Salina Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Pedestrian

A Salina man was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly threatening a pedestrian and later being found driving under the influence.

At approximately 2:40 p.m. on July 25, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Jaran Boulevard following reports of a disturbance. A passerby reported hearing yelling and observing what appeared to be a possible altercation near a residence.

During the investigation, officers learned that 37-year-old Adam Ruehlen allegedly threatened to kill the reporting party and threatened to have his dogs attack the individual.

After making the threats, Ruehlen reportedly left the area on a moped. Officers later located him in the CVS parking lot near Ohio Street and Crawford Street.

Police determined Ruehlen was possibly under the influence of alcohol and discovered he was operating the moped while his driving privileges were suspended. Officers also found the vehicle was improperly registered.

Ruehlen was arrested and booked into the Saline County Jail on charges of criminal threat, driving under the influence, driving while suspended, and improper registration.

Officers said they were unable to establish any domestic-related crimes during the investigation.
