August 4, 2026 Pistachia Nut Butter Recall, Walmart
Pistachio Nut Butter Sold at Salina Walmart and other Kansas Locations Recalled Over Salmonella Risk

Salina shoppers are being advised to check jars of Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter, although federal officials have not confirmed whether the affected lot was sold at the local Walmart.

A lot of Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter distributed to Walmart stores in Kansas and 18 other states has been recalled because of possible Salmonella contamination.

The recall was announced Aug. 3 by Boticelli Foods and posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. It applies to one lot of the pistachio nut butter sold exclusively through Walmart.

Kansas is among the states included in the distribution area. However, the FDA announcement does not provide a store-by-store distribution list, and it has not been confirmed whether the affected lot was stocked or sold at the Salina Walmart Supercenter.

Salina has one Walmart Supercenter, located at 2900 S. Ninth St.

How to Identify the Recalled Product

The recall applies only to Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter matching all of the following information:

Package: 6.7-ounce glass jarUPC: 194346207961Lot code: LB028ACP04Expiration date: Jan. 28, 2027

The lot code and expiration date are printed on the jar.

No other lots of Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter are included in the recall, according to the FDA announcement.

Three Jars Tested Positive

The recall began after Walmart learned July 17 that the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services had detected Salmonella in three jars during routine testing at a Walmart store.

The product was manufactured by Gustibus Alimentari Srl in Assoro, Italy, imported by Boticelli Foods and distributed exclusively through Walmart.

The affected lot was distributed to Walmart stores in:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington and Wyoming.

No Illnesses Reported

No illnesses or injuries connected to the recalled product had been reported as of the Aug. 3 announcement.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms may include:

Diarrhea, which may be bloodyFeverStomach crampsNauseaVomiting

Symptoms generally begin between six hours and six days after exposure and usually last four to seven days. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends contacting a health care provider for symptoms including diarrhea or vomiting lasting more than two days, bloody stool, a fever higher than 102 degrees or signs of dehydration.

What Consumers Should Do

Consumers should not eat pistachio nut butter bearing the recalled lot code.

The product should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers may also contact Boticelli Foods at 631-543-7000, extension 203, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Central time, or by email at [email protected].

Walmart says that when products are recalled, it works to block them from being sold and remove them from stores.

Salina consumers who previously purchased Bettergoods Pistachio Nut Butter should check the UPC, lot code and expiration date rather than relying only on the brand or appearance of the jar.
