Bennington State Bank’s Don Lamb Honored for 50 Years in Banking
Bennington State Bank Executive Vice President of Commercial Lending Don Lamb has received the Kansas Bankers Association’s 50 Years in Banking Award.
Lamb was recognized during the KBA Annual Meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for five decades of service to the Kansas banking industry.
His banking career began in 1971, when he worked as a teller at Bennington State Bank while still in high school. Under the guidance of his parents, Gene and Joy Lamb, both Kansas bankers, he learned the relationship-focused approach that would shape his career. His early duties ranged from serving customers to painting the bank, hauling supplies and helping wherever needed.
After earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Kansas in 1976, Lamb began his professional banking career at Planters State Bank in Salina. He later joined National Bank of America in 1984 and eventually served as president of UMB/NBA through 2006.
Lamb subsequently served as senior vice president of commercial lending at Sunflower Bank before returning to Bennington State Bank in 2013 as executive vice president of commercial lending.
Throughout his career, Lamb has worked with businesses across Kansas and mentored other bankers while building long-term customer relationships.
“Don’s impact reaches far beyond the loans he’s made or the titles he’s held,” said Brett Mitchell, executive vice president of Bennington State Bank. “He has spent his career investing in people, building trusted relationships and exemplifying what community banking is all about. We are incredibly grateful for his leadership and congratulate him on this well-deserved recognition.”
Lamb said returning to Bennington State Bank in 2013 brought his career full circle.
“Coming back to the bank where my career began has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional life,” Lamb said. “I’ve been fortunate to work alongside outstanding colleagues, serve incredible customers and be part of the communities that truly value relationships. I’m deeply honored by this recognition from the Kansas Bankers Association.”
Bennington State Bank has served customers for more than 138 years and offers banking services through 16 locations in 13 Kansas communities. More information is available at bsbks.com. Member FDIC.
