Saline County Youth Cast 110 Ballots in 2026 Primary Election Program
Saline County invited young residents to take part in the 2026 Primary Election through Teen and Child Ballots, a program designed to engage youth in the election process. A total of 80 eligible Teen Ballots and 30 eligible Child Ballots were returned on Election Day in Salina.
Teen voters responded to questions on topics including school start times, influential apps, vacation preferences, volunteer work for school credit, and interest in serving as student election workers. Results showed that most teens favored later school start times, named YouTube as the most influential app, preferred beach vacations over mountain trips, and supported receiving school credit for volunteer work. A majority indicated they were not interested in becoming student election workers.
Child voters weighed in on lighter topics, with most selecting summer as their favorite season, dogs over cats, and pancakes over waffles.
Saline County officials said they plan to share information about what will appear on the November ballot in the coming months.
