Citywide Storm Limb Pickup Completed in Salina
The City of Salina has completed its citywide residential tree limb pickup following the severe June 8 storm.
The cleanup began June 15 after the City divided Salina into six areas and assigned crews to remove storm-damaged tree limbs placed along residential curbs.
By July 31, the City reported crews were nearing completion of the initial pass through residential neighborhoods and would return for piles that may have been missed.
According to figures released by the City, crews ultimately hauled more than 4,500 dump-truck loads of tree limbs, while the Salina Municipal Solid Waste Landfill received more than 10,500 tons of yard-waste debris during the storm cleanup.
The City had previously announced that the free pickup would not include private streets, alleys, private property or commercial properties.
Residents who still need limbs removed can use the City's regular special trash pickup program. Tree limbs are eligible for the service, which currently carries a minimum $28 charge.
