Cleared for Display: Airplane Spotted Taking Shape Inside The Garage
Visitors passing by The Garage in Salina may have caught an unusual sight this week: an airplane being assembled inside the museum.
The propeller aircraft was spotted taking shape inside The Garage Automotive Museum, offering an early sneak peek at what appears to be part of the museum’s latest exhibit.
While The Garage is best known for automobiles and Salina’s transportation history, the appearance of an aircraft adds a new dimension to the museum floor — and certainly gives visitors another reason to look up.
Getting an airplane inside a museum is an exhibit in itself. With it being carefully positioned and assembled indoors, the setup offered a behind-the-scenes look at just how much work goes into preparing a major display before the public ever sees the finished product.
The aircraft also fits naturally with Salina’s long connection to transportation. From automobiles and highways to aviation, the city has played a role in moving people across Kansas and beyond for generations.
For now, the plane offers a sneak peek of what’s coming next at The Garage.
And judging by what is already being assembled inside, the museum’s latest exhibit may be preparing to take off — literally.
