City Responds to Dover Drive Rebate Concerns, Says Qualification Process Still Underway
The City of Salina says no residents have been approved or disqualified from its new water filtration rebate program as the city continues testing and developing the qualification process.
Salina311 reached out to City Manager Jacob Wood Friday after hearing from residents in the Dover Drive area who were concerned they would not qualify for the rebate.
Wood said the city is preparing a press release addressing the issue and expects to release it Monday.
“We are still in the testing phase of our new rebate program. Nobody has been approved or disqualified for the program at this point,” Wood told Salina311.
Wood said the program is new and differs from other programs currently offered by the city, meaning it will take some time to determine which residents qualify.
Part of that process involves testing water when a resident reports discoloration.
“We know we have issues with discolored water from time to time in some locations in Salina, but we are trying to gather data about when it happens and for how long,” Wood said. “This will allow us to understand the system so that we can best address the issues.”
Wood added that the city is not currently aware of any location in its water system experiencing consistently discolored water.
The clarification comes as the city continues investigating water concerns reported by residents, including those in the Dover Drive area.
Salina311 will provide an update when the city releases additional information about the rebate program and its qualification requirements Monday.
