Brian Lewis Bauer

June 29, 1956 - August 25, 2026

SALINA - Brian Lewis Bauer , 70, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026. He was born in Eureka, Kansas to Carl and Helen (Sayre) Bauer.

Brian graduated from Muskogee High School before attending Bethany College and graduating in 1978. While at Bethany, he met Nancy (Mirtz), and the two married in 1979.

After college, Brian attended Wartburg Seminary in Iowa and was ordained as a Lutheran Minister in 1985. Over the next four decades, Brian served congregations in Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

Brian was a lifelong fan of the Oklahoma Sooners and enjoyed attending college football games with family. He was heavily involved in the arts, singing in a number of choirs including the Bethany College Oratorio Society, performing in local community theater productions in Kansas and Oklahoma, and attending concerts and musicals. Brian was a World War II buff and knew several classic movies by heart. He also enjoyed traveling, whether it was going on road trips with his wife and children or flying overseas.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carla.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Salina, Kansas; his sons, Matthew and wife Laura, Andrew and wife Christina, and Michael and wife Casey; his five grandchildren, Lukas, Ellery, Emerson, Edward, and Ezra; his sister, Karen Carson; his nephew, Sean Carson and wife Melody; and his niece, Kristi Neef and husband Jody.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salina.

Memorials may be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Bethany College.

Don D. Teal

January 26, 1934 - August 25, 2026

Don D. Teal , 92, passed away in his Salina home on August 25, 2026, surrounded by family and a hospice caregiver.

Don was born on January 26, 1934, in Wichita, Kansas, to Albert B. and Pauline L. (Graham) Teal. An only child, he spent much of his youth with three older cousins. He graduated from Wichita North High School and often shared his fond memories of participating in the school's boat racing team.

After high school, Don worked as a coffee salesman and a parts runner at Beech before enlisting in the military in 1957. He served for more than 30 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant in KSANG 190 ARW at the Kansas Adjutant General's Office.

He married Shirley Whiteaker, August 4, 1959. Together they made homes and raised their family in Wichita and Topeka, Kansas, before retiring to Bella Vista, Arkansas. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before Shirley's passing on December 1, 2019.

Don spent his later years in Salina, Kansas. He was a member of Bennington Bible Church and enjoyed football season, especially cheering for his beloved Kansas City Chiefs.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Shirley. He is survived by his daughters, Tami Dunham of Salina, Kansas; Terri McDougal (Warren) of Bennington, Kansas; and Donna Schooler (Derrell) of Grove, Oklahoma; grandsons Shea McDougal and Sean McDougal; granddaughter Sarah Shuffer; two great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Don deeply loved his family, took great pride in serving his country, and, above all, held a strong faith in the Lord.
