I-70 Construction Could Delay Salina K-State Fans Traveling to Manhattan
Salina-area Kansas State football fans traveling east toward Manhattan should allow extra time as construction in Geary County could cause delays on Interstate 70 and U.S. 77.
The Kansas Department of Transportation is alerting motorists to expect slower traffic during periods of heavy travel, particularly on weekends when K-State plays at home. The Wildcats’ next three games are scheduled at home, beginning Saturday, Sept. 5.
Two construction areas could affect the drive. Work continues around the K-18 and I-70 interchange, while concrete patching and bridge repairs are underway on U.S. 77 south of I-70.
Eastbound I-70 traffic is reduced between Henry Drive at Exit 301 and K-18 at Exit 303. KDOT said motorists should be prepared for possible backups through that section.
Fans leaving Salina should consider departing earlier than usual, monitor current road conditions and avoid making last-minute route changes while traffic is congested.
