Salina Woman Arrested After Allegedly Chasing Man With Shotgun

A Salina woman was arrested on multiple felony charges after allegedly assaulting a man and attempting to shoot him during a disturbance at a residence in rural Saline County.

The incident was reported to law enforcement while officers were investigating an unrelated domestic disturbance in the 600 block of West Elm Street. During that investigation, a 34-year-old man reported an incident that had occurred on Aug. 16 at approximately 8 p.m. at a residence in the 4200 block of East Crawford Street.

According to the victim, he had gone to the residence to speak with 27-year-old Ashlee Arnson of Salina when an argument escalated into a physical confrontation.

The victim told investigators that Arnson struck him and then picked up a shovel, attempting to hit him with it. The shovel reportedly struck his hand, causing an injury. The victim further reported that when he attempted to restrain Arnson, she headbutted him, causing a cut to his lip.

According to the report, the incident escalated further when Arnson went inside the residence, retrieved a shotgun, and returned outside. The victim told investigators that Arnson chased him around the yard, pointed the shotgun at him, and pulled the trigger. The firearm did not discharge.

Following the investigation, deputies located Arnson and took her into custody. She was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of aggravated battery, attempted voluntary manslaughter, criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and domestic battery.

The investigation remains ongoing.
