URGENT: Dog Reportedly Found in Salina Now at Denver Shelter; Search Underway for Owner
A dog reported as being found in Salina, Kansas, is currently being held at a Humane Colorado shelter in Denver, more than 400 miles away, prompting an effort to locate her owner before she becomes eligible for adoption.
The female Australian Shepherd is identified by Animal ID A1357702. A current PawBoost shelter-intake listing confirms the dog was reported found Sept. 5, 2026, with Salina, Kansas listed as the location where she was found. She is now being held at Humane Colorado's Leslie A. Malone Center, 2080 S. Quebec St. in Denver.
It is currently unclear how the dog traveled from Salina to Denver or under what circumstances she was transported to the Colorado shelter.
A social media post drawing attention to the situation says the dog is believed to be approximately 1 year old and urges Salina-area residents to share her photograph because her owner may have no reason to search shelters hundreds of miles away in Colorado.
Time could be important.
Humane Colorado states that lost pets are generally held for five days before becoming eligible for adoption and recommends owners reclaim their animals as soon as possible.
