Salina Seeking Volunteers for Citizen Boards and Commissions
The City of Salina is accepting expression-of-interest forms for vacancies that currently or will soon exist on several citizen boards, commissions and committees.
Openings listed in the September 11 news release include:
- Accessibility Advisory Board — one person with a disability; two youth members
- Board of Zoning Appeals — two Salina residents; two youth members
- Building Advisory Board — one electrical contractor; one realtor; two youth members
- Business Improvement District Design Review — one design professional; one BID business owner
- Community Art and Design Advisory Committee — one practicing artist
- Heritage Commission — one architect; two youth members
- Library Board — one Salina resident
- Parks & Recreation Advisory Board — one youth member
- Planning Commission — two citizens-at-large; one outside representative (a Saline County resident outside city limits but within three miles of Salina); two youth members
- Solid Waste Management Committee — one resident of the unincorporated area of the county nominated by Saline County (apply at salinecountyks.gov/boards-committees); two youth members
The Youth on Board program allows people ages 15–20 who attend a secondary or post-secondary school to serve one-year terms on certain boards noted above.
