Child Found Unattended at Pilot Truck Stop, Man Arrested

A Salina man was arrested after a young child was found unattended inside Pilot Truck Stop on Sept. 14.

At approximately 10 a.m., officers were contacted by employees at Pilot Truck Stop, 1944 N. 9th St., regarding a 2-year-old child who had been found inside the business without supervision. Employees checked the surrounding area but were unable to locate a parent or guardian.

The child was taken into protective custody while officers investigated. Authorities were subsequently able to identify and locate a possible guardian who was camping nearby. The individual was identified as 41-year-old Jared Shirack.

Shirack was arrested and booked into the Saline County Jail on a requested charge of aggravated endangerment of a child. The child remained in protective custody.
