Wichita Man Arrested After Domestic Incident and Multi-County Pursuit

A Wichita man was arrested early Saturday morning following a domestic disturbance, vehicle pursuit, and standoff that began in Salina and ended in McPherson County.

At approximately 2:45 a.m. on Sept. 19, officers responded to the 700 block of E. Ash after a woman reported that a male acquaintance had kicked in the back door of her residence, entered while she was sleeping, and slapped her. The victim also reported the suspect briefly returned armed with a machete before leaving the area.

According to police, the suspect later called the victim and indicated he was returning. Officers located the suspect when he came back to the area and attempted a traffic stop. The suspect fled, leading officers on a pursuit through Salina and onto Interstate 135.

During the pursuit, stop sticks were successfully deployed and deflated the vehicle's tires. Despite the damage, the suspect continued driving into McPherson County before eventually stopping near a refinery.

A standoff followed involving the Salina Police Department, Saline County Sheriff's Office, McPherson County Sheriff's Office, Kansas Highway Patrol, and crisis negotiators. After negotiations, the suspect exited the vehicle unarmed. Police reported he resisted arrest and was secured using a body wrap restraint before being transported back to Salina.

During the investigation, officers recovered open alcohol containers, a loaded 9mm handgun, and a loaded lever-action rifle from the vehicle.

The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Angel Marin Flores of Wichita. He was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges including aggravated burglary, domestic battery, felony fleeing and eluding, criminal possession of a weapon, driving under the influence, reckless driving, interference with law enforcement, and multiple traffic-related offenses.

The investigation remains ongoing.
