Salina Man Arrested After Pursuit Ends at Salina Inn

A Salina man was arrested Monday morning following a vehicle pursuit that began in north Salina and ended at a local motel.

At approximately 7:20 a.m. on Sept. 21, an officer observed a white Nissan Rogue following another vehicle too closely in the 300 block of N. Ninth Street. When the officer turned around to investigate, the vehicle turned west onto North Street and accelerated. Police determined the vehicle was traveling 56 mph in a 30 mph zone.

When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to stop and continued west on Old U.S. Highway 40 before entering southbound Interstate 135. The pursuit continued until the vehicle exited at Crawford Street. Officers attempted to deploy stop sticks on the off-ramp, but the driver maneuvered around them and continued east on Crawford.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle pulled into the parking lot of the Salina Inn, 636 Westport Blvd. Officers issued commands to the driver, who initially refused to comply before eventually being taken into custody.

The driver was identified as 24-year-old Colten A. Miller of Salina. A 33-year-old Salina woman was also inside the vehicle. According to police, the woman stated she asked Miller to let her out during the pursuit, but he refused.

Investigators determined Miller had two active Salina Municipal Court warrants for failure to appear and was driving with a suspended license.

Miller was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of felony flee and elude, kidnapping, interference with law enforcement, and the two outstanding warrants.
