BREAKING: Juvenile Taken Into Custody After Reported Threat at Lakewood Middle School

A juvenile was taken into custody Thursday afternoon following a reported threat involving a student at Lakewood Middle School, according to the Salina Police Department.

Police said they were notified after the end of the school day of statements indicating an intent to cause harm at the school.

Officers immediately began investigating in coordination with USD 305 administration. As a result of the investigation, a juvenile was taken into custody.

SPD said the investigation has concluded and there is no active threat to Lakewood Middle School students, staff or the community.

“SPD takes all reports involving threats of violence at our schools seriously and appreciates the assistance and cooperation of USD #305 throughout this incident,” the department said.

Additional details about the juvenile or the nature of the reported threat were not immediately released.
