More Than 250 College Tennis Players Compete in Salina This Weekend

More than 250 men’s and women’s college tennis players are competing in Salina this weekend as the Salina Tennis Alliance and Kansas Wesleyan University host the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championships.

The three-day tournament, running Friday through Sunday, features both singles and doubles competition and includes players representing NAIA schools from throughout the Midwest.

Matches Being Played Across Salina

The tournament is based at the Salina Tennis Center in Kenwood Park, with additional matches being played at the tennis courts at Salina Central High School and Salina South High School.

With more than 250 players participating, competition is spread across the three locations throughout the weekend.

The tournament will narrow the fields through Friday and Saturday before the semifinal and championship matches are played Sunday at the Salina Tennis Center.

Kansas Wesleyan men’s and women’s tennis coach Jarrett Bowman is serving as tournament director and event coordinator.

Players Competing for Spot at National Event

The Salina tournament is one of eight NAIA regional championships taking place around the country.

Top finishers from each regional tournament will advance to the NAIA ITA Cup Championship, scheduled for Oct. 15-18, 2026, in Rome, Georgia.

The national event brings together top singles players and doubles teams who qualify through regional competition.

Fourth Straight Year in Salina

This is the fourth consecutive year the Salina Tennis Alliance and Kansas Wesleyan have hosted the NAIA ITA regional event in Salina.

The tournament brings hundreds of college athletes, coaches and supporters to the community while also placing some of the region’s top NAIA tennis competition on local courts.

The event is open to the public, and admission is free.
