Fire damages Sunflower Adult Day Services; center closed for foreseeable future
A fire early Wednesday morning, October 7, caused considerable damage at Sunflower Adult Day Services in downtown Salina, and the center will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
The facility, at 401 W. Iron Avenue near the corner of Iron and Ninth Street, provides supervised daytime care for older and disabled adults. The early morning fire left the building extensively damaged and closed indefinitely.
In a public notice, Sunflower Adult Day Services said its future is unknown for now and that staff need time to process the loss. The organization said it would welcome prayers for participants, caregivers, and staff, and that it will keep families updated on Facebook and by email. Resources are limited at the moment, the organization said.
Sunflower Adult Day Services has not announced a reopening date.
