Salina South’s Sophia Li wins AVCTL Division 1 girls singles league title

Salina South freshman Sophia Li won the AVCTL Division 1 girls singles league championship, becoming the Cougars’ first girls singles league champion since 2011.

Li swept her three league matches without dropping a game, winning each 6-0, 6-0. She played some of her strongest tennis of the season in the title run.

She is the first Salina South girls singles player to take the singles division title since 2011 — before she was born.

Li enters regionals with a 20-3 record. Her only losses this season came against the 2025 Class 5A state runner-up and twice against the 2025 Class 4A state runner-up. She has finished first or second in every meet this season.

She will compete at regionals Saturday in Andover.
