UPDATE: Salina Woman Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle at Ninth and Elm
A 41-year-old Salina woman has died from injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of Ninth and Elm streets.
According to a news release from the Salina Police Department, emergency communications received a report of a vehicle striking a pedestrian at approximately 3:14 p.m. on October 7, 2026. Salina Police, Salina Fire and paramedics responded to the scene.
Police reported that a juvenile driving a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe was stopped on Elm Street, facing west, and waiting to turn south onto Ninth Street. At the same time, a 41-year-old woman was waiting to cross Ninth Street in the crosswalk along the south side of Elm Street.
When the traffic signal on Elm Street turned green and the pedestrian crossing signal activated, both the vehicle and pedestrian proceeded. The Tahoe struck the woman.
The victim was transported to Salina Regional Health Center, where she later died from her injuries.
Police said the juvenile driver's identity and details regarding any citations issued will not be released.
The department did not provide additional information about the circumstances surrounding the collision.
