Saline County completes public test of voting equipment

The Saline County Clerk and Election Office conducted the public test of its voting equipment and election reporting system on Oct. 7, as required by Kansas law, the county said.

The test does not measure how people will vote, the county said. It checks whether the equipment correctly reads and counts ballots marked with results election staff already know. If a machine does not get every result right, including rejecting ballots with too many votes, it must be corrected and tested again before it can be used in the election.

The county said the public test is one of several steps its election staff completes to prepare for Election Day.
