Saline County Nonprofits Have Until Nov. 2 to Apply for SBA Disaster Loans After June Storms
Private nonprofits and faith-based organizations in Saline County and 29 other Kansas counties that were damaged by the June storms have until Nov. 2 to apply for low-interest federal disaster loans, the U.S. Small Business Administration said.
The loans cover damage from the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and flooding that hit the state June 4–15.
Besides Saline, the eligible counties are Atchison, Brown, Cherokee, Crawford, Dickinson, Edwards, Geary, Haskell, Hodgeman, Jackson, Lincoln, Marshall, Mitchell, Morris, Nemaha, Ness, Osage, Osborne, Ottawa, Pawnee, Pottawatomie, Rice, Riley, Rush, Russell, Sherman, Stafford, Wabaunsee and Washington. The Kickapoo Tribe of Indians of the Kickapoo Reservation in Kansas and the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska are also eligible.
Physical disaster loans pay to repair or replace damaged property, equipment, inventory and other assets. Economic injury disaster loans provide working capital to help cover operating expenses caused by the disaster. Loans can also be increased by up to 20% of verified losses to pay for upgrades that protect a building from future damage.
Organizations can borrow up to $2 million at interest rates as low as 3.625%, with terms of up to 30 years. No interest builds up and no payments are due for the first 12 months after the money is paid out.
The deadline for physical damage loans is Nov. 2. Economic injury loan applications are due June 1, 2027.
Applications are taken online at sba.gov/disaster. Questions can go to the SBA National Support Network Center at (866) SBA-HELP or [email protected]. People who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability can dial 7-1-1 for relay services.
