Salina EDO Draft Budget References Lobbying Contract, Increases Outside Services Funding

The Salina Community Economic Development Organization's draft 2027 budget includes a potential lobbying contract and proposes doubling the amount allocated to outside contract services.

The draft increases that expense category from $10,000 in 2026 to $20,000 in 2027. An accompanying note states, "Lobbyist Contract - Amount and Provider TBD."

The document does not identify a proposed lobbyist, the cost of a lobbying agreement or the legislative issues the organization would pursue. It also does not specify how much of the $20,000 allocation would be used for lobbying rather than other contracted services.

Total proposed contract services spending would increase from $20,450 to $32,750. That category includes outside services, accounting and legal expenses. The draft allocates $10,750 for accounting and $2,000 for legal fees.

The draft budget is scheduled for review at the organization's October 22 board meeting. Its inclusion in the packet does not establish that the board has approved a lobbying contract or selected a provider.
