UPDATE, Oct. 19: In-person advance voting for the Nov. 3 general election opens today in Saline County. This story updates Salina311's Sept. 30 report on the county's early-voting schedule.

SALINA, Kan. — Saline County voters can cast ballots in person starting Monday, Oct. 19, at the Salina City-County Building, 300 W. Ash St. The county lists early voting in Room 213 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 19-23 and Oct. 26-30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, and from 8 a.m. to noon Monday, Nov. 2, according to an Oct. 12 post from Saline County. The Nov. 2 morning hours were not included in the schedule Salina311 reported Sept. 30.

The Saline County Clerk and Election Office itself is in Room 215 of the same building, according to the county's website. Voters can also return mailed advance ballots there.

Mail ballots

Voters who want to vote by mail can apply for an advance ballot through Tuesday, Oct. 27, according to the county's election page. Applications are available as a printable form from the county or online at ksvotes.org, and they can be returned to the Election Office by email, mail or fax. The county checks signatures against voter registration records and does not accept typed digital signatures.

Completed mail ballots can be returned to the Election Office in Room 215, placed in the secure ballot drop box in the circle drive outside the City-County Building, or turned in at any Saline County polling place by 7 p.m. on Election Day, the county said.

Postmark grace period remains in effect

A 2025 state law set 7 p.m. on Election Day as the deadline for mailed ballots to arrive. That law is on hold while a lawsuit, Kansas Appleseed v. Schwab, moves through the courts. A Douglas County District Court injunction issued July 16 requires election offices to count mailed ballots postmarked by Election Day that arrive within three days afterward. On Oct. 2, the Kansas Court of Appeals denied Secretary of State Scott Schwab's renewed request to suspend that injunction before the general election, according to the court's order. The appeals court said its decision does not forecast the final outcome of the appeal.

The county urges voters to return ballots by the close of polls on Election Day to ensure they are counted.

Election Day

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3. Voters can find their polling place at kansasvoterinfo.gov/VoterView and view a sample ballot, which includes a constitutional amendment question, through the county's election page.

Questions can go to the Saline County Clerk and Election Office, led by Saline County Clerk Tammy J. Arnold, at 785-309-5820.
