VeAnne Kay (Steerman) Depperschmidt
November 16, 1962 - October 20, 2026

VeAnne (Steerman) Depperschmidt, 63, of McPherson, died Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in Salina.
VeAnne’s career included time with the USDA, US Cellular, and the McPherson County Clerk's Office. Her greatest joys, however, were found at home. She treasured time with her family, was an avid reader, and had a gift in the kitchen. She was known for tasting a dish at a restaurant and telling her husband, "I think we could make this better at home," and more often than not, they did.
She was a woman of tender heart who saw the good in everyone. That compassion extended to animals as well. Over the years, her home sheltered more pets than could be counted, and she had a special instinct for finding the runt of the litter or the one who most needed a home.
VeAnne delighted in spoiling those closest to her, especially her grandchildren, who could always expect new pajamas waiting upon their arrival. To them, she was "MommaMe," a name that began when her oldest granddaughter, Madelyn, was a toddler and could not quite pronounce "Momma V."
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Depperschmidt, of the home; her son, Levi Wolters, and his wife, Erin, of Benton, Arkansas; grandchildren Madelyn and Jace; and her sisters, Vicki Steerman of San Antonio, Texas, and Valerie Wozniak of Wharton, Texas. She is also survived by her extended family of in-laws, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Vivian Steerman, and her father- and mother-in-law, Marvin and Norma Depperschmidt.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 26, 2026, at Roselawn Cemetery, 1920 East Crawford Street, the family will gather after to visit will friends at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel with lunch provided.
