Salina Central theater students to stage 'Almost, Maine' Nov. 12-15
Salina Central High School's Thespian Troupe 639 will present "Almost, Maine," a two-act play by John Cariani, Nov. 12-15 in the Central High School auditorium.
Performances are at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, through Saturday, Nov. 14, and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15. The school's Mustangs Repertory Theatre class is staging the production, according to a news release from theater instructor Barbara Hilt.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. They can be bought online through GoBound at https://www.gobound.com/ks/schools/salinacentralhs/tickets or at the auditorium box office starting one hour before each performance. The box office takes cash, checks and cards. Audience members should enter through the school's south entrance. Central High School is at 650 E. Crawford St.
The cast and crew include 23 students. They will rotate between acting roles and crew work over the four performances, according to the release.
The play is set on a cold winter night in Almost, Maine, a place so far north it's "almost in Canada." Under the northern lights, residents fall in and out of love "in unexpected and hilarious ways," according to the release.
"Almost, Maine" premiered at Portland Stage Company in Portland, Maine, on Oct. 29, 2004. It opened off-Broadway at the Daryl Roth Theatre on Jan. 12, 2006.
The show runs about two hours with a 15-minute intermission. The parent booster organization will sell concessions. Accessible seating is at the back of the auditorium.
The production is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Dramatists Play Service.
