Tornado watch in effect for Saline County until 10 p.m.
A tornado watch is in effect for Saline County until 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center issued Tornado Watch 701 at 1:25 p.m.
The watch also covers nearby Ellsworth, Lincoln and McPherson counties.
A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes to develop. It does not mean a tornado is happening. A tornado warning means a tornado is occurring or imminent. Residents should be ready to act quickly if a warning is issued.
The National Weather Service in Wichita said storms from about 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. could bring damaging winds of 50 to 75 mph, hail up to half-dollar size and possible tornadoes. Forecasters advise having multiple ways to receive warnings.
Kansas counties in the watch: Barber, Barton, Butler, Chase, Comanche, Cowley, Edwards, Ellis, Ellsworth, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Kiowa, Lincoln, Marion, McPherson, Pawnee, Pratt, Reno, Rice, Rush, Russell, Saline, Sedgwick, Stafford and Sumner.
