Marymount College documentary to premiere Nov. 12 at Salina Art Center Cinema
Salina Media Connection will premiere its documentary Legacy on the Hill: The Marymount College Story on Thursday, November 12, at the Salina Art Center Cinema, 150 S. Santa Fe Ave.
The 7 p.m. showing is sold out. A second showing is set for 9 p.m. Tickets are $9, and reservations are available through the Salina Art Center Cinema website.
The film is based on Dr. Pat Ackerman's book Marymount College of Kansas: A History. It covers the college from its 1922 founding by the Sisters of St. Joseph as a women's liberal arts college through 1989, using archival footage and oral histories. It highlights alumni, faculty, the school's NAIA athletics and its ties to Salina.
Executive producers Tom Fleming and Greg Stephens of Salina Media Connection made the film with Wichita-based Method Productions.
"Marymount's story is intrinsically tied to the heartland," Fleming said. "We want to share this story of academic innovation, championship sports, and cultural heritage and enduring legacy with the community where it all began."
