Driver Injured After Truck Strikes Tree Near Niles and Country Club Roads
A 69-year-old Ogallah man was injured Thursday morning after his pickup truck failed to stop at an intersection, crossed into a pasture, and struck a tree.
The crash occurred around 11:20 a.m. on November 3rd, near the intersection of Niles and Country Club roads.
According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office, Darryl Stecklin was driving a 2023 Ford F-150 southbound on Niles Road when he failed to navigate the T-intersection at Country Club Road. The truck continued across the intersection, traveled approximately 100 yards into a pasture, and collided with a tree.
Stecklin, who was wearing his seatbelt and was the sole occupant, sustained non-life-threatening injuries including abrasions to his head and face. Salina EMS transported him to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment.
The truck remained upright following the impact. Investigators said a possible medical condition may have contributed to the crash.
