Portion of Whitmore Road Closed for K-4 Reconstruction Project
The Kansas Department of Transportation has closed a portion of Whitmore Road from the K-4 junction north approximately 1,000 feet, beginning Tuesday, January 20. The closure is expected to last 5 to 6 weeks, weather permitting.
The closure is necessary for the K-4 reconstruction project in Saline County, which encompasses about 7 miles of K-4 from the Smoky Hill River bridge to just east of S Kipp Road.
Sporer Land Development Inc., of Oakley, serves as the primary contractor for the $23.9 million project.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in fall 2027.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow all posted signs when approaching and driving through work zones. For information on highway construction projects across Kansas, visit kandrive.gov or call 511.
