Salina Planning Commission to Review Three Zoning, Development Requests on April 7
The Salina Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, to consider three separate zoning and development-related applications involving property near South 9th Street, Briarcliff Road and Crawford Place.
The public hearing will begin at 4 p.m. in Room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash Street. Members of the public will have an opportunity to speak on each of the requested items.
One of the applications, ZMA26-001, was filed by Jeff Maes on behalf of Nine South Development, LLC. The request seeks a zoning map amendment from C-3 (Shopping Center) to PC-5 (Planned Service Commercial) for an 8.31-acre tract on the east side of South 9th Street, between the Market Place Apartments and Sam’s Club. According to the public notice, the request is intended to allow for off-premise signage and also seeks partial relief from bulk landscape regulations. The property is legally described as Lots 1-8, Block 1 of the Replat of Nine South Addition.
A second application, ZMA26-002, was filed by Troy Reinert on behalf of the City of Salina’s Building Maintenance Division. That request seeks a zoning map amendment from R (Single-Family Residential) to P-PF (Public Use - Public Facilities) for a .49-acre tract on the east side of Briarcliff Road north of Crawford Street. The change would allow the former Fire Station No. 4 building to be used as the City Facility Maintenance operations building. The property is legally described as Lots 3-4, Block 7 of the Rolling Hills Addition.
The third item, PPDD26-001, was filed by Charles Renz on behalf of SRH Advisors, LLC. That application seeks approval of a Planned Development District ordinance and approval of a preliminary development plan to allow construction of a new office building on existing vacant lots within the Wilbur PDD. The property is a 1.6-acre tract located on the east side of Crawford Place, north of Crawford Street and east of Marymount Road. The legal description includes a portion of Tract No. 3 and Tracts No. 4, 5 and 6 of the Wilbur PDD of Lot 7, Block 2 of the Georgetown Addition, along with the adjacent vacated Beachwood Road.
Anyone wishing to comment on the applications may do so during the public hearing before the Planning Commission.
