What’s ahead around Salina this spring and summer: concerts, tournaments, outdoor events and festival season

As temperatures begin to rise, Salina’s calendar is filling up with a steady run of concerts, youth sports tournaments, outdoor programming and major events that will carry the community from spring into early summer.

The next several weeks bring a mix of regional draws and local activities, creating a stretch that typically sees increased traffic across parks, venues and businesses.

Concerts and performances at the Stiefel

The Stiefel Theatre for the Performing Arts is set to host a series of performances through May and into June.

Upcoming shows include:

Salina Symphony performing Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony
WilcoGet The Led OutOld Crow Medicine Show

Additional shows are scheduled into June, continuing a steady lineup of touring acts and local performances.

Youth sports fill the weekends

Across Salina’s parks system, baseball and softball tournaments are scheduled nearly every weekend.

Facilities including Bill Burke Complex, Berkley Family Recreation Area, Dean Evans Stadium and Pestinger Field are expected to host multiple events in May, including tournaments such as Run for the Roses, Wake & Rake, Play for the Bling, the KSHSAA State Baseball Tournament and Salina Diamond Wars.

These events bring teams and families into Salina from across the region, contributing to hotel stays, restaurant traffic and increased use of local amenities.

Outdoor and nature events return

Spring also marks the return of outdoor programming and community events.

The The Land Institute has scheduled public activities, including a guided tour in late May and Community Days in June at the Marty Bender Nature Area. These events focus on prairie restoration, conservation and public engagement with the region’s natural environment.

Parks, trails and outdoor spaces across Salina also see increased use as weather conditions improve.

Festival season approaching

The spring schedule leads directly into one of Salina’s largest annual events, the Smoky Hill River Festival.

The festival is scheduled for June 11–14 at Oakdale Park and marks its 50th year. Organizers say the event will feature live music, art installations, the Fine Art & Craft Show, Artyopolis for children, food vendors and activities throughout the weekend.

A busy stretch for the community

Taken together, the coming weeks represent one of the busiest stretches of the year for Salina, with activity spread across entertainment venues, parks, outdoor spaces and community events.

For residents, it provides a wide range of options across music, sports and outdoor experiences. For local businesses, it marks the start of a season that typically brings increased foot traffic and visitors to the area.

Salina’s spring calendar is not centered around a single event. Instead, it is built on a steady lineup that carries momentum from one weekend to the next, leading into the summer months.

If you have something coming up in Salina, visibility matters more than ever.

The Salina311 events calendar is viewed over 14,000 times every day by people actively looking for things to do, places to go, and events to attend.

From community events and fundraisers to concerts, open houses and family activities, this is where your audience is already looking.

If your event isn’t featured, there’s a strong chance people simply don’t see it. And when people don’t see it, attendance takes a hit.

Make sure your event is where the attention already is.
