Salina Fire Department Observes National Fallen Firefighters Remembrance Week

The Salina Fire Department is participating in Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters, a national observance running from April 26 through May 3, 2026. The week-long event is held annually to honor firefighters across the country who have died in the line of duty.

Fire departments and communities nationwide take part in the observance, which is intended to remember fallen firefighters and acknowledge the families, friends, and colleagues they left behind.

As part of the local observance, the Salina Fire Department is encouraging residents and businesses to display red lighting on their homes, porches, or storefronts throughout the week as a symbol of remembrance.
