Judith "Judy" Lynn (Hughes) Weber
April 4, 1941 – April 29, 2026

Judith Lynn Weber (Judy Hughes), 85, of Salina, Kansas, passed away after a battle with cancer on April 29, 2026. A passionate chemical dependency counselor, Judy often said her greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother. She was known for driving thousands of miles to attend her children's and grandchildren's sporting events and concerts and for keeping plenty of treats on hand for anyone who stopped by. Few things brought her more happiness than time spent with family.
Judy was born April 4, 1941, in Hays, Kansas. As the daughter of FBI agent Larry Hughes, she lived in several cities growing up, including Newark, New Jersey; New Orleans; San Antonio, Texas; Kansas City, Missouri; Topeka, Kansas; and Kansas City, Kansas, though she always considered Salina home. She graduated from Salina Central High School in 1959 and attended Monticello College in Godfrey, Illinois.
She later married John Anderson of Salina. Together they had four children and remained supportive partners in raising their family.
Judy is survived by her children: Brad Anderson (Jane) of Salina; Mike Anderson (Linda) of Castle Rock CO; Doug Anderson (Becky) of Topeka KS; and Beth Easter (Greg) of Lawrence, KS. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; her sister and dear friend, Katie Utter; and Katie's children, Jennifer Simoneau, Melissa Baker, and Darrin Duff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry Hughes (1992) and Theda Hughes (1987), and by Howard Debauche (2023), who was an important part of her life for more than 25 years.
Judy spent much of her career helping others as a counselor at Central Kansas Foundation and in leadership roles in the chemical dependency units at Prairie View in Newton and Overland Park. After returning to Salina, she continued teaching court-assigned classes for impaired drivers in Salina and McPherson, sometimes hosting the classes in her own home and providing meals to those in recovery. Many of these people remained lifelong friends and shared heartfelt stories about the positive influence Judy had on their lives.
Following her counseling career, Judy worked as a receptionist at Blue Beacon for 17 years before retiring in 2018. In retirement she worked part-time at University United Methodist Church and volunteered as a greeter and family support aide at Salina Regional Health Center.
Judy had a lifelong love for caring for others, including the many rescue animals she welcomed into her home. Her kindness, generosity, and devotion to family will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Judy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at University United Methodist Church in Salina. A meal and conversation with family and friends will follow. Arrangements are entrusted to Ryan Mortuary and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Smoky Hill River Festival Legacy Fund.

Nancy Alice Burns Bonner
January 29, 1927 – March 4, 2026

Nancy Alice Burns Bonner died peacefully, surrounded by family, on the evening of Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Hallmark Nursing Center in Denver, Colorado. She had recently celebrated her 99th birthday.
Nancy was born in Dallas, Texas on January 29, 1927, to John Henry Moses and Charlotte Alice Foley.
She was graced with two, long and meaningful marriages. She was married to Kenneth Morris Burns on March 25, 1945, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and they were married until his death in January of 1987. She then later married Douglas Gray Bonner of Shreveport, Louisiana, on February 7, 1997, until his death in July of 2018.
Nancy had a lively and passionate mind. After completing high school in Jena, Louisiana, she went to business school in Dallas, Texas. After marrying Kenneth, she took a break from formal education to pour herself into having a family and making a home. She had a deep love and commitment for her God and for her Church. She and Kenneth helped start Calvary Baptist Church and then were founding members of Bel-Air Southern Baptist Church – both in Salina, Kansas. For forty-two years she served in various roles at these churches. She was the church pianist, Sunday school teacher, and Youth Choir Director. Simultaneously, she taught piano out of the home, passing on her passion for music, and maybe mixing in a little religious instruction, to hundreds of students. In her fifties, she returned to school to pursue her degree in Music Education from Kansas Wesleyan University. Nancy moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, in late 1987, and soon found employment as the Music Teacher at Holy Rosary School. She also jumped into choir membership and Sunday School teaching at Highland Baptist Church, and then later, at First Baptist Church of Shreveport.
Nancy leaned into big dreams and was hardly ever intimidated by a challenge. She was a poet, a songwriter, a playwright and producer. Her great loves were contagious, and if you got too close, you were going to get drawn in.
Nancy took her greatest pride in her family and was a tenacious includer and protector of each member. She is predeceased by her eldest son, Stephen Morris Burns [Mary Goss]. She is survived by daughter, Cathy Lorena Burns Minton [James Lockhart Minton], and sons, John Philip Burns [Karen Krueger], and David Michael Burns [Holly Bartlett]. She is survived by a sister, Johnette Abigail Evans [Bill Evans], and a brother, Don Michael Moses [Janet Moses]. She is survived by step-children, Bonnie Kauffman [Richard Kauffman], Anne Jones, and Susan Aldredge [Jeff Aldredge]. And, she is survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Roselawn Heights Memorial Chapel, 1920 East Crawford Street, Salina, Kansas. A visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service.
