BREAKING: USD 305 and NEA-Salina Finalize 2026-2027 Contract Negotiations
Salina Public Schools and NEA-Salina have finalized contract negotiations for the 2026-2027 school year, according to a media release issued Thursday afternoon by the district.
The Salina Public Schools Board of Education and NEA-Salina met for their final round of negotiations and reached agreement on several salary, benefit and contract language changes.
The agreement includes adding $1,000 to the base salary, paying step and movement, and increasing the district’s employer contribution for health benefits by $30 per month.
The teams also agreed to amendments to the longevity schedule, allowing all years of service with Salina Public Schools to count toward longevity payments, regardless of position type.
Other agreed changes include updates to paid leave language for employees who are off work for medical reasons stemming from an altercation at work, updates to the dress code policy, the addition of supplemental contract and special salary provisions, and language clarifications regarding home district assignment.
The agreement also adds a provision clarifying teacher communication responsibilities outside the duty day.
Changes were also made to blackout day policy language for clarity and for application to CKCIE employees working in non-Salina districts. The agreement also includes structural changes intended to improve clarity throughout the contract.
With negotiations now settled, the next steps are teacher ratification and a vote by the Salina Board of Education.
