Temporarily Closed: City Asks Families to Keep Mud Out of New Splash Pad
The splash pad at Jerry Ivey Memorial Park is temporarily closed for cleaning and maintenance after excessive mud and dirt were brought into the water feature and filtration system.
City officials said the closure is necessary to protect water quality and prevent damage to the equipment. Mud and dirt tracked onto the splash pad can quickly clog the filtration system, affect water quality and force additional closures.
Parents and children are being asked to stay out of the dirt, mulch, grass and landscaped areas around the splash pad before entering the water feature. Visitors are encouraged to use sidewalks and designated access points, avoid landscaped areas and supervise children to help keep them on paved surfaces.
Staff is working to clean and restore the system as quickly as possible. The splash pad is expected to reopen sometime tomorrow, with updates to be shared once available.
The city thanked residents for their patience and cooperation in helping care for the new community amenity.
