Citywide limb pickup announced

Instructions for residents now:
Stack limbs at the curb.
Limbs must be no longer than 10 feet.
Do not mix limbs with trash, fencing, construction debris, or other waste.
Do not block piles with vehicles.
City pickup does not include private property, private streets, alleys, or commercial properties.
Paid special pickup can be scheduled through General Services at 785-309-5750.
Storm-debris / landfill guidance

Message: Residents were asked not to bring tree limbs or storm debris to the Salina Municipal Solid Waste Landfill. Residents should place limbs, branches, and downed trees at the curb in lengths no longer than 10 feet.
Commercial hauler limb disposal

Message: The landfill limb disposal area reopened for commercial haulers only. Limbs must not be mixed with trash, construction debris, or other materials. Commercial haulers assisting with City roadway clearing receive expedited access. Questions go to General Services at 785-309-5750.
Dark traffic signal guidance

Message: Traffic signals without power or working intermittently should be treated as four-way stops. Drivers should stop, yield to vehicles already in the intersection, proceed in order of arrival, yield to the vehicle on the right if arriving at the same time, and watch for pedestrians and emergency personnel.
City-County Building open; some city facilities still without power

Message for June 9 through June 11: The City-County Building at 300 W. Ash was open for business. The city said several other city facilities were still without power. The same alert directed residents to Evergy for power outage information.

Service: The city posted a current list of licensed contractors for residents needing home repairs after the June 8 storm. The city stated it does not endorse any contractor, but is providing the list as a public service.

Evergy power outage information
Evergy’s outage map showed 8,730 customers affected in the Salina-area region as of 11:49 a.m. Wednesday, June 10.
The map listed 249 separate outages in the affected area. The largest outage cluster shown on the map was centered around the Salina area, with additional outage areas visible near Solomon, Abilene, Junction City, Fort Riley and Wakefield.
Residents are encouraged to continue checking Evergy’s outage map for the latest restoration updates. Anyone who sees a downed power line should stay away from it and report it immediately.
