In loving memory, we honor the life of Constance Johnson. Born on May 23, 1935, in Salina, Kansas, Constance passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at Presbyterian Manor after bravely facing a five-week struggle. She was surrounded by love and left this world with grace, as she had lived in it.
Constance was the beloved daughter of Hilmer (PeeWee) and Lucille (White) Brewster. She grew up in Salina, where she attended Salina High School and later pursued higher education at Marymount College and Kansas State University. At K-State, she became an active member of Alpha Delta Pi.
Constance married the love of her life, George Johnson, on August 15, 1954, in Salina. Together, they shared 56 wonderful years filled with adventure and passion. Their love for travel, piloting airplanes, and hot air ballooning was a testament to their adventurous spirits. They were also devoted K-State fans, cheering on their team with fervor.
A dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church, Constance's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. She sang in the church choir and contributed tirelessly to her community through various volunteer efforts. Her commitment to the Salina Community Theater, Salina Presbyterian Manor, St. John's Hospital, Salina Regional Medical Center, Salina Public Library, and the Bicentennial Center left a lasting impact. Cynthia "Cindy" Joyce Maria (Webber) Ramsey
October 22, 1945 - June 3, 2026

Cynthia Joyce Maria (Webber) Ramsey, lovingly known as “Sookie” by her grandchildren, passed away peacefully at her home in Salina, Kansas, on June 3, 2026. She was 80 years old. Born October 22, 1945, in Arkansas City, Kansas, to Clint James Webber II and Shirley Jean (McCullough) Webber, Cindy grew up in Arkansas City and Emporia. She graduated from Emporia High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Emporia State University, where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. It was there she met her husband of 59 years, Mark Ramsey. They married in 1967 and settled in Salina. She later earned a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Kansas State University and received the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) designation.
A passionate educator for over five decades, Cindy taught Latin at St. John’s Military School and founded and directed Love ‘n’ Learn Preschool. She served countless students and families through USD 305 schools (Roosevelt-Lincoln, South High, and Central High), Sacred Heart, Salina Head Start, CASA, CAPS, Cornerstone Classical School, Cloud County Community College, and other programs. She served on the Emporia State University Alumni Board and was honored with the Salina Public Schools Master Teacher Award in 2008. Known for her creativity, she often dressed as historical figures to bring lessons to life, inspiring generations with enthusiasm and encouragement.
Sookie’s life centered on faith, family, and service. She and Mark created lasting memories on annual family summer road trips in their red van, visiting every state in the continental United States except Wisconsin. She rarely missed a grandchild’s game, performance, or milestone. Her servant’s heart shone through volunteer work with CASA, CAPS, youth groups, Vacation Bible School, foreign exchange programs, the Smoky Hill River Festival, and numerous mission trips to Mexico.
Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She loved teaching Latin and often shared Psalm 100 and the Lord’s Prayer. She lived by the phrases “Affirmatio” (“Make Strong”) and “Pax Dei” (“Peace of God”). She found joy in singing in the choir and sewing handmade gifts, especially laundry bags for graduating seniors—sometimes making as many as 42 in a year.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Mark Ramsey; her brother, Clint “Tiger” (Denice) Webber III of Derby, Kansas; daughters Cerci (Mike) Ramsey-Munson and Marci Ramsey; grandchildren Corbin (Kalina) Munson, Cayman Munson, Maddie (Michael) Chandler, Caroline Donatell, and Wyatt Donatell; great-grandchildren Berkley and Kollyns Chandler; and nieces, nephews, many extended family members, former students, and friends.
Te in perpetuum amabimus, Sookie. You will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorials to Gentiva Hospice, CAPS, or Cornerstone Classical School: Mrs Ramsey’s Latin Scholar Scholarship Fund, care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
