Salina Parks Board to Receive Storm Cleanup Update Wednesday
The Salina Parks & Recreation Advisory Board is scheduled to receive an update on storm cleanup efforts during its Wednesday meeting.
The board will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, in Room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 W. Ash St. The agenda lists “Storm Clean Up Status” under new business.
The packet does not include a written staff report detailing the current status of storm cleanup, but the agenda item indicates parks officials are expected to discuss ongoing recovery work following recent storm damage in Salina.
The meeting will also include activity reports and updates on several parks projects, including the Jerry Ivey Splash Pad, Barkley Park Dog Park improvements, Concrete Improvements Phase 4b, and Matson Field Dugouts.
Recent parks activity reports show city crews have continued work across multiple areas of the department. The report lists several May accomplishments, including the opening of the new Jerry Ivey Park splash pad, completion of the Oakdale Park road overlay, cleanup of the Lakewood North shore, and maintenance work at Barkley Park.
The forestry report through May lists 19 full tree removals, 236 right-of-way cutbacks, 46 stump removals, and one callout so far in 2026.
Facility maintenance staff also reported completing 108 requested general maintenance work orders, along with work on city facilities including the Salina Police Department, Animal Shelter, Kenwood Cove, and other public buildings.
The storm cleanup update comes as the city continues addressing the aftermath of severe weather that affected neighborhoods, parks, public facilities, and public infrastructure across Salina.
Citizens are allowed to speak during the Citizens Forum portion of the meeting, which is limited to five minutes per speaker for items not already listed on the agenda.
