Saline County Deputy Receives Commendation for Lifesaving Response

Saline County Sheriff Soldan presented Deputy Alycia Buchanan with a commendation for her actions during a medical emergency on June 9, 2026, in rural Saline County.

According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Buchanan responded to a medical call regarding heart problems. Upon arrival, she found the patient was not breathing. Deputy Buchanan used her issued Automated External Defibrillator and administered two rounds of CPR until emergency medical personnel arrived on scene.

The patient was transported by Salina EMS to Salina Regional Hospital for treatment. The Sheriff's Office cited Deputy Buchanan's lifesaving techniques and professionalism in issuing the commendation.
