Jerry Ivey Splash Pad Shut Down After Diarrhea Contamination
The splash pad at Jerry Ivey Memorial Park will remain closed until noon Tuesday, July 21, following a water contamination incident.
According to Salina Parks and Recreation, the closure was prompted by a diarrheal incident in the water. The splash pad must undergo an extended period of elevated chlorination before it can safely reopen.
The treatment process is being completed in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines intended to eliminate potentially harmful bacteria and parasites from recreational water facilities.
Families looking for another option may use the splash pads at Hawthorne Park, 715 N. Ninth St., or Centennial Park, 746 Hemlock Drive.
The Jerry Ivey Memorial Park splash pad is scheduled to reopen at 12 p.m. Tuesday.
