SPD: No Threats Reported During Animal Shelter Call
The Salina Police Department says no threats were made and no criminal investigation is underway following a police response to the Salina Animal Shelter on Tuesday, July 28.
According to information provided to Salina311, shelter staff contacted police shortly after 5 p.m. following a disagreement involving a resident who was attempting to surrender several kittens.
Police said the shelter initially was not accepting the animals, and the resident was reportedly unhappy with that decision. However, the situation did not escalate to the level of disorderly conduct, and officers found no indication that threats had been made toward shelter employees.
Shelter staff reportedly requested that an officer respond to document the interaction before the kittens were accepted.
No police report was completed, and no criminal charges or investigation resulted from the call.
The information provided by police does not support rumors that officers were called to the shelter because of a threat against employees.
