Salina Planning Commission to Hold Public Hearing Tuesday on West Diamond Drive Rezoning
The Salina Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday afternoon on a request to rezone a nearly four-acre commercial property near Interstate 70 on Salina's west side.
The hearing is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 4, in Room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street. Members of the public are welcome to attend and will be given an opportunity to speak.
The application, filed by Neel Jain on behalf of Salina Investments, LLC, requests a zoning map amendment for property at 635 W. Diamond Drive. The 3.96-acre tract sits north of I-70 on the south side of West Diamond Drive. The applicant is seeking to change the zoning designation from C-7 (Highway Commercial) to C-5 (Service Commercial).
C-7 zoning is typically associated with businesses serving highway travelers -- such as motels, gas stations, and fast food -- while C-5 zoning allows a broader range of service-oriented commercial uses.
The Planning Commission will take public comment before making a recommendation. Any final zoning change would require approval by the Salina City Commission.
