Salina Planning $25.5 Million in 2027 Capital Projects, With Magnolia Work Leading the List
The City of Salina is proposing more than $25.5 million in capital projects for 2027, with major road, bridge, water and sanitation projects making up much of the spending plan.
The largest proposed project is approximately $8 million for East Magnolia Road bridge replacement and roadway improvements.
The city is also proposing another $1 million to design phases two and three of improvements along West Magnolia.
Together, the Magnolia projects account for approximately $9 million in planned 2027 capital spending and design work.
Other major projects in the draft include approximately $4 million for waterline improvements, $2.55 million for seven sanitation trucks, $2.1 million for East Crawford Road and bridge widening, and $1.5 million for riverbank repairs at Bill Burke Park.
The capital plan represents one of the largest concentrations of infrastructure spending contained in the proposed budget and will involve a combination of cash, reserves, debt and other funding sources depending on the project.
The $25.5 million capital plan is part of Salina's draft 2027 budget and is not yet final. Individual projects, funding sources and spending amounts could be changed before the City Commission adopts the final budget.
