Visit Salina Funding Would Rise to $950,000 Under City's Draft 2027 Budget
City funding for tourism promotion through Visit Salina would increase substantially under Salina's proposed 2027 budget.
The draft calls for $950,000 for Visit Salina and the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, funded through the city's Tourism and Convention Fund.
That compares with $750,000 approved for 2026, representing a proposed increase of $200,000, or roughly 27%.
The budget also includes $240,000 for Community Marketing and $50,000 for Kenwood/Oakdale marketing.
The Tourism and Convention Fund is supported largely through Salina's transient guest tax collected from hotel stays. The city projects approximately $2.7 million in revenue for the fund in 2027, compared with $2.4 million budgeted for 2026.
Total proposed expenditures from the tourism fund are approximately $2.64 million.
The proposed $950,000 allocation makes Visit Salina one of the largest recipients of city-supported outside-agency funding contained in the budget.
The figures are contained in the city's draft 2027 budget and are not final. The Salina City Commission can change funding levels before adopting the final budget.
