In Memory of Kay Quinn: A Life of Service to Salina

For years, Kay Quinn helped tell Salina's story.

Her work touched some of the community's most recognizable institutions, including the Smoky Hill River Festival, Salina Arts & Humanities, the Smoky Hill Museum and Kansas Wesleyan University.

Quinn spent more than a decade working with Salina Arts & Humanities. Her responsibilities included marketing and advertising for the Smoky Hill River Festival, promoting the agency's programs and branding, and supporting fundraising efforts for the Smoky Hill Museum.

Her connection to the River Festival continued after her professional role with the City ended. She remained involved as a volunteer and was highlighted by the City of Salina in April 2026 as the Festival prepared to celebrate its 50th year.

Quinn also served the broader community through Altrusa International of Salina and later brought her experience in communications, fundraising and events to Kansas Wesleyan University, where she served as assistant director of stewardship and university events.

A fourth-generation Kansan and native of Bennington, Quinn returned to the Salina area in 2010 after spending 21 years in Gainesville, Florida, where she worked in publishing, communications and public relations.

Much of her work happened behind the scenes — promoting events, supporting organizations, welcoming visitors and helping share the stories of the community around her.

Salina311 recognizes Kay Quinn and the many years she dedicated to Salina's arts, culture and community.

In memory of Kay Quinn.
