Salina traffic citations up about 33% from the prior week
Salina traffic citations ran about 33% higher in the latest week than in the week before, according to daily counts from the Salina Police Department tracked on Salina311.
From Aug. 28 through Sept. 3, the city averaged about 20.9 citations a day. The prior week (Aug. 21–27) averaged about 15.7 a day — roughly five more citations per day in the newer stretch.
Over a longer window, the last 30 days (Aug. 5–Sept. 3) averaged about 15.1 citations a day, about 18% above the prior 30 days’ average of 12.8. August as a whole averaged about 13.6 citations a day. The first three days of September averaged about 26.7 a day — nearly double August’s daily pace, though that comparison rests on only three September days.
On Sept. 3 the department issued 36 citations, after 32 the day before. Across the longer history tracked on the site (back to June 2025), a typical day has been closer to about 11 citations. Days at 36 or higher have been uncommon in recent months.
Daily citation totals can swing sharply from one day to the next. Week and month averages give a clearer picture of the recent pace than any single day alone. The counts measure enforcement activity and do not break out citation type, outcome, or location within the city.
