Salina Fire Department to Mark 25th Anniversary of 9/11, Dedicate New Fire Station 4

The Salina Fire Department will invite the public to the city's new Fire Station 4 on Friday, Sept. 11, for a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, followed by the station's official dedication and open house.

The 9/11 tribute ceremony will begin promptly at 8:55 a.m. at Fire Station 4, 2600 E. Crawford St. The City said the ceremony will remember those who died in the attacks, honor first responders and service members, and recognize the spirit of service that followed.

New Fire Station 4 Opens to the Public

Immediately following the 9/11 ceremony, the Salina Fire Department will hold the official dedication and open house for the new Fire Station 4.

Residents will be able to tour the new facility, meet Salina firefighters and learn about the department's emergency response and fire prevention services.

The open house will continue until noon, with donuts and coffee available. The event is free and open to the public.

The new station replaces Salina's previous Fire Station 4 and represents a major update to the department's facilities on the east side of the city.

Salina311 previously received a tour of the new station from Fire Chief Shane Pearson ahead of its public opening. The facility includes updated operational and living areas and modern firefighter safety features, including areas designed to help separate contaminants encountered on emergency calls from firefighters' living spaces.

Where to Park

The Fire Department is asking those attending the ceremony and open house to park in the Berkley Family Recreation Area ball field parking area to reduce congestion around the new station.

The City is also encouraging attendees to arrive early to allow time for parking and to be in place before the 8:55 a.m. ceremony begins.

The event is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, at 2600 E. Crawford St., with the 9/11 tribute beginning at 8:55 a.m. and the Fire Station 4 dedication and open house immediately following.
