Cash-Wa Direct in Salina to close Nov. 13; everything 40% off

Cash-Wa Direct, the restaurant-supply grocery store in Salina, will close for good on Friday, Nov. 13, and everything in the store is 40% off until then.

The store confirmed Wednesday that Nov. 13 will be its last day. The closing does not include Sunflower Restaurant Supply, which shares the location and will remain open, the store said.

Cash-Wa Direct also announced it will be closed on Saturdays starting Oct. 31.

A Salina311 reporter visited the store Wednesday and confirmed that everything is on sale for 40% off. About half of the store's refrigerators were empty as dozens of people shopped to take advantage of the sale.

The discount includes frozen meats, fries and other frozen foods, along with cups, plates, restaurant supplies and candy.

Cash-Wa Direct and Sunflower Restaurant Supply are at 1647 Sunflower Road, near the Salina Airport. Cash-Wa has been in Salina for about five years.

Cash-Wa Direct sells food-service products to the public without a membership, including frozen foods, meats, bulk groceries, tabletop supplies and candy. Its parent company, Cash-Wa Distributing of Kearney, Neb., launched the retail stores in 2021 and also operates them in Aberdeen, S.D., North Platte, Neb., and Cheyenne, Wyo.

Sunflower Restaurant Supply, which sells commercial kitchen equipment and supplies, began in 1947 as Lyon Coffee House and took the Sunflower name in 2000, according to Cash-Wa. Cash-Wa bought Sunflower's Salina and Wichita locations in April 2022.
