Salina Man Arrested After Alleged Bat Threat During Domestic Disturbance
A Salina man was arrested Tuesday afternoon following a domestic disturbance involving a baseball bat.
According to the Salina Police Department, officers responded at approximately 12:00 p.m. on July 15, 2026, to the 200 block of North Columbia Street after receiving a report that a woman may have been struck with a bat.
Officers contacted a 44-year-old Salina woman who reported she had been visiting a known associate, identified as 43-year-old Jeremiah Bastin. During an argument, Bastin allegedly threw alcohol on the woman before retrieving a baseball bat and swinging it at her. The woman reported the bat missed her.
Police said Bastin then retreated into a back room of the residence. Officers repeatedly called for him to exit the home, but when he failed to do so, they entered and cleared the residence. Bastin was ultimately located hiding inside a closet and was taken into custody without further incident.
A search warrant was executed at the residence, and the baseball bat was recovered as evidence.
Bastin was booked into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of Aggravated Assault, Domestic Battery, and Interference with Law Enforcement.
